Description
Coconut shell activated carbon is known for high hardness, low dust
and is more abrasion resistant than any other type. It is a totally
natural, environmentally friendly product, that has a very small
carbon foot print, since it is derived from coconut shells. As most of
its pore structure consists of micro pores (more than 80%), coconut
shell carbon can efficiently absorb impurities with micropore
molecular structure, such as those present in drinking water. In
addition, because of its high abrasion resistance and exceptional
chemical and physical characteristics, only coconut shell activated
carbon can support applications such as recovery of gold and other
precious metals.
following advantages over many other types of carbon:
1. High hardness levels and low dust levels. This improves material handling characteristics and is
especially important where carbon fines cannot be tolerated.
2. High surface area, up to 1400 m2/g. This allows for long life and high adsorption capacity.
3. High retentivity, preventing unwanted desorption of adsorbed species.
4. Large fraction of micropores (< 20 Angstroms). This is important for removal of lowmolecularweight
organics and for removal of trace levels of contaminant.
5. Low ash and fewer impurities.
Coconut shell activated carbons are ideal for gasphase applications and for liquidphase applications
where purification to trace concentrations is required. Activated carbon manufactured by us are used in
many domestic and industrial applications like, In Water and Liquid applications for,
1. Municipal water treatment taste, odour and micro pollutant removal.
2. Domestic water treatment inline and cartridge filters.
3. Process and Industrial water treatment Reduction of total organic halogens (TOX), biological oxygen
demand (BOD) and chemical oxygen demand (COD) and dechlorination.
4. Ground water treatmentReduction of TOX and absorbable organic halogens (AOX).
5. Purification of edible oils and fats, alcoholic and soft drinks etc.
6. Gold mines for adsorption of metal and cyanide complexes from Carboninpulp (CIP), Carbonin
column (CIL) and heap leach circuits.
7. Swimming pools for removal of residual ozone and control of chloramine levels.
In Air and Gas applications for,
1. Air purification and environmental protection Removal of solvents and hydrocarbons, deodorisation,
air conditioning, flue gas treatment.
2. Cleaning process gases Removal of contaminants from hydrogen, natural gas, carbon dioxide,
solvent recovery.
Protection equipments Gas masks, removal of harmful of toxic compounds, cigarette filters.
