Food and Beverage Processing

Activated carbon from AquaCarb Global LLC plays a vital role in the food and beverage industry by facilitating decolorization, deodorization, and the removal of impurities, ensuring high product quality and safety.

Purification and Deodorization

Activated carbon is used for Purification, dechlorination and deodorization of edible oils and beverages before bottling. ICGL & ACPL offers various grades of carbon for the food and beverages industry including applications like edible oil purification and sugar refining. We manufacture food grade carbons of the highest purity with very low ash and dust content.

Applications

  • Sugar refining
  • Edible oil purification
  • Beverage filtration
  • Food ingredient processing.

Beverage & Bottled Water Industry

Water quality is crucial in the beverage industry, directly impacting the quality of beverages and bottled water. To purify water, substances like chlorine, chloramines, or ozone are added. However, residues of these disinfection agents react with organic compounds, producing toxic by-products such as trihalomethanes. ICGL & ACPL’s water-activated carbon is specifically designed to remove these disinfection agent residues and their by-products. Activated carbon is also used to purify carbon dioxide for use in carbonated drinks.

Industrial Waste Water Treatment

ICGL & ACPL manufactures a wide range of activated carbon suitable for removing contamination from industrial wastewater. Activated carbon is globally recognized as the best-known adsorbent for various applications, including process effluent, washing effluent, groundwater remediation, and mercury removal. It effectively adsorbs non-biodegradable toxic substances and pollutants present in wastewater.

Alcohol Purification

Activated carbon is utilized to enhance the taste and texture of alcohol and wines. During the alcohol fermentation process, a small quantity of volatile, oily liquids called fusel oil is produced. Activated carbon effectively removes fusel oil from alcohol, resulting in improved quality.

Tea & Coffee Decaffination

Caffeine, a naturally occurring substance found in numerous plant species, is present in many food and beverage products. ICGL & ACPL’s activated carbon is used for decaffeinating coffee and tea, ensuring the desired caffeine levels in the final products.

Decolorization

Activated carbon is employed to remove color produced by organic contaminants in the manufacturing of food and beverage products, petrochemical products, and chemical products. It is particularly used for decolorizing cane and beet sugar syrups, dextrose, fructose, and other food-grade products. Activated carbon is also utilized to decolorize and purify organic acids and amino acids derived from the fermentation process.

In the edible oil industry, activated carbon is employed to remove unwanted natural and anthropogenic compounds from edible oils. Additionally, in the fruit juice industry, activated carbon is used to eliminate unwanted color compounds and mycotoxins.

Our range of activated carbon products serves as a reliable solution for various applications in food and beverage processing, ensuring the production of high-quality products with enhanced purity and taste.
